Tripura: Major Drug Seizure in Collaborative Operation by BSF and Police

Northeast Desk, 19th March: In a joint operation between the Border Security Force (BSF) and Tripura Police, a significant breakthrough was achieved in combating drug smuggling with the seizure of Yaba tablets valued at Rs 3 crore.

Raid Details:

The raid took place late Monday night at the residence of Idris Mia in Rabindranagar, Sonamura, located in the Sepahijala District sharing an international border with Bangladesh.

Seizure and Confiscation:

Sonamura Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sasimohan Debbarma informed reporters that approximately 70,000 Yaba tablets, with an estimated market value of Rs 3 crore, were confiscated from Idris Mia’s premises. Additionally, a sum of Rs 1.40 lakh was seized during the operation.

Efforts to Apprehend Culprit:

Although Idris Mia, a notorious figure in drug trafficking, managed to evade authorities during the raid, law enforcement agencies had been monitoring his activities closely. Based on credible intelligence provided by a confidential source, the raid was swiftly executed.

Significance of the Operation:

The successful operation marks a significant milestone in the fight against drug smuggling in the region. Mia’s suspected involvement in smuggling drugs from other states into the area had raised concerns, prompting authorities to take action.
