Tripura: Man assaults minor, sentenced 20 years in jail
Guwahati: A special judge in Tripura has sentenced 28-year-old imprisonment to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting an 8-year-old minor boy.
Tapash Das alias Tanu Das, the accused, was found guilty of the offence and sentenced to prison under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, 2012.
Das was reportedly a resident of the Kathalatali area under Amtali Police station, had allegedly sexually abused a minor boy of the same locality.
According to reports, Das allegedly forced himself on the minor child, seriously injuring him.
The crime was initially brought to light in 2019 when the victim’s parents filed an FIR with the Amtali Police Station, which was followed by the filing of a charge sheet.
After listening to all of the arguments the court found him guilty and sentenced 20-year rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5000.
