Tripura: Massive Ganja Haul Uncovered on Deogarh Express at Agartala Station

Agartala: A significant seizure of 75.5 kilograms of dried ganja has been reported by Agartala railway station officials, discovered during a routine inspection of the Deogarh Express.

The substantial contraband, having an estimated market value of Rs 15.10 lakh at its intended destination, was found abandoned and unclaimed. Authorities proceeded to seize the illicit substance after completing all necessary legal formalities.

The Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP) has initiated a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for this large-scale smuggling operation. Officials are actively pursuing leads to track down the perpetrators and dismantle the network involved in the transportation of the illegal narcotics. Security measures at the railway station have been significantly intensified in an effort to deter future attempts at smuggling and ensure the safety of passengers.

This recent seizure follows a similar incident on Wednesday, where authorities at the same location recovered and seized 34 kilograms of dry ganja, valued at approximately Rs 5.10 lakh. That contraband, like the latest discovery, was found unclaimed and abandoned. Following established legal procedures, the ganja was secured, and the Agartala GRP commenced an investigation to trace the origin and ownership of the illegal consignment. The recurring nature of these incidents has prompted authorities to heighten vigilance and strengthen security protocols at the Agartala Railway Station.
