Tripura MLA Demands Urgent Deportation of Illegal Migrants, Citing National Security Threat

Agartala, Tripura – A fervent call for immediate action against illegal immigration has echoed through the political corridors of Tripura, as Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma publicly urged the central and state governments, along with the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), to initiate a comprehensive, mission-mode operation. The objective: to identify and deport all illegal Bangladeshi nationals currently residing within the state’s borders.

Debbarma, addressing a packed press conference, painted a stark picture of escalating internal security vulnerabilities. He detailed a surge in illegal entries and settlements, particularly noting the border districts of Sonamura, Kamalpur, Kailashahar, and Dharmanagar as hotspots. The MLA alleged that these migrants are not only constructing unauthorized dwellings on government lands and within Reserved Forests, but are also fraudulently acquiring Indian identification documents such as Aadhaar, PAN cards, and ration cards, effectively embedding themselves into the fabric of the nation. He further warned of their dispersal across the country, potentially creating a network of hidden cells.

Adding to the gravity of his concerns, Debbarma highlighted the alarming trend of these illegal migrants enrolling their children in Indian madrasas. This, he suggested, raises serious questions about potential links to hostile elements, especially given the heightened national security context following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. “Their presence, especially in tribal areas, poses a serious threat to national security,” he emphatically stated.

The MLA expressed deep dissatisfaction with the perceived inaction of state and tribal council authorities, accusing them of complacency in the face of this growing crisis. He demanded that Tripura emulate the decisive measures taken in states like Delhi, Assam, and Gujarat, where illegal structures erected by intruders were demolished and arrests were made.

Debbarma concluded by reiterating his previously submitted appeal to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, imploring the central government to take immediate and decisive steps to detect, detain, and forcefully repatriate all illegal migrants currently residing within Tripura’s territory.
