Tripura: NIA and BSF Detain Over 20 Individuals in Anti-Human Trafficking Raids

Northeast Desk, 8th November: The National Investigation Agency, in collaboration with the Border Security Forces, detained over 20 individuals with suspected ties to the human trafficking network in the state. The operations, which commenced on Tuesday night, persisted till the early hours of Wednesday in border regions notorious for cross-border criminal activities.

However, Tripura Police had not received any prior information about these operations. A senior police official stated, “Raids were carried out in various areas, but the local police were not part of the operation. Only a select group of high-ranking officials were privy to the operation details.”

In addition to Tripura, NIA teams also conducted raids in ten other states, including Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Haryana, Puducherry, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir. “A total of 30 National Investigation Agency teams were deployed to Tripura some time ago. Hundreds of NIA agents worked discreetly in preparation for this crucial day. Eventually, the raids were executed, resulting in the detention of 80% of the intended targets. Although some individuals managed to escape, it will be challenging for them to resume their activities, as the entire network has been dismantled,” a reliable source informed.
