Tripura: Nine Candidates Confirmed for East (ST) Parliamentary Constituency

Northeast Desk, 6th April: Following the scrutiny held on Friday (April 6), a total of nine candidates, representing various political parties and independents, have been cleared to contest in the East (ST) parliamentary constituency.

Saju Wahid, the Returning Officer of the East (ST) parliamentary constituency, informed reporters that out of the 14 forms received from 9 candidates, all were found to be valid. Among the submissions, four forms were from the BJP candidate, and three were from the CPIM candidate. Consequently, nine candidates have been officially accepted, while the remaining forms were set aside.

Additionally, Amra Bangli, although submitting forms, is not recognized as a registered party, hence its candidates are considered to be contesting independently. This brings the total of independent candidates to six.

Despite a complaint filed by CPIM regarding a false affidavit, it was dismissed by the authorities.

The candidates set to contest from the BJP include Kriti Singh Debbarma, while the CPIM candidate is Rajendra Reang. With the completion of the scrutiny process, the stage is set for a competitive electoral battle in the East (ST) parliamentary constituency.
