Tripura on High Alert as IMD Warns of Cyclonic Storm

Northeast Desk, 25th May: Anticipating adverse weather conditions, the Tripura government has issued a high alert across all 8 districts following a warning from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Heavy to very heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and thunderstorms are expected over the next 48 hours as a depression in the Bay of Bengal intensifies into a cyclonic storm by Saturday.

Tamal Majumder, Additional Secretary (Revenue), conveyed the IMD’s forecast, highlighting the potential impact on Tripura. “Due to the influence of the cyclonic storm, heavy rainfall and gusty winds are likely in Tripura from May 25 to May 28,” Majumder stated.

Residents have been urged to take necessary precautions and remain indoors during the inclement weather conditions. The government’s proactive measures aim to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens in light of the impending cyclonic activity.
