Tripura Opposition Leader Advocates Marijuana Cultivation Legalization
Northeast Desk, 25th December: In a surprising move, Tripura’s Opposition leader, Animesh Debbarma, has proposed the legalization of marijuana cultivation, asserting that it could enhance the income of cultivators and contribute significantly to state revenue.
This suggestion comes in contrast to the state government’s recent intensified efforts to eliminate marijuana plants across Tripura.
Addressing reporters in Agartala, Debbarma underscored the potential benefits of legalizing marijuana cultivation, citing its potential applications for medical purposes and its positive economic impact.
He urged for a thorough discussion on the matter in the Assembly, emphasizing the potential boost it could provide to the state’s revenue streams.
