Tripura Police Arrest Four Bangladeshi Nationals for Illegal Entry

Northeast Desk, 7th September: In a significant operation early Saturday morning, Tripura Police apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally crossed into India. The arrests took place in Dharmanagar, located in the North District of Tripura.

The individuals, identified as Mohammad Hanif (50) and Mohammad Yusuf Ali (35), both from Muralganj Bagerhat, along with Parul Begum and Jasmine Akhtar from Jamalatila Bagerhat, were found loitering in Kumarghat of Unakoti District. They reportedly entered India through a border area near a town in Bangladesh.

According to police reports, the group had traveled overnight in auto-rickshaws, which drew the attention of patrolling officers. They were eventually dropped off near the LIC office in Dharmanagar city, prompting further investigation.

During interrogation, the arrested individuals revealed that a man named Rubel from Dhaka had facilitated their illegal entry into India. They were promised employment opportunities in Bangalore, with assurances of payment upon starting work. The police noted that the deteriorating economic conditions in Bangladesh have led to an increasing number of people seeking employment across the border.

The Tripura Police have produced the four individuals before the court, and legal proceedings are underway.
