Tripura Police Bust Drug Racket, Arrest Woman in Agartala, Seize Heroin Worth Rs 4 Lakh
Northeast Desk, 6th April: Tripura Police have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against drug trafficking, apprehending a woman identified as Kala Devi from Guala Basti near Khejur Bagan area in Agartala city. The arrest was accompanied by the seizure of heroin with an estimated market value of Rs 4 lakh.
Dr. Kiran Kumar, Superintendent of Police for West District, disclosed that Kala Devi had been operating clandestinely in the drug trade for an extended period. Despite previous arrests, she had managed to secure bail, continuing her illicit activities.
Acting on confidential information, law enforcement authorities conducted a raid at Kala Devi’s residence in Guala Basti. During the operation, approximately 33 grams of heroin, along with 100 small vials and 18,000 empty vials, were confiscated.
Dr. Kiran Kumar highlighted that Kala Devi’s arrest was a significant breakthrough in dismantling the drug network in the region. Furthermore, he revealed that during interrogation, Kala Devi provided additional names involved in the drug trade, prompting further investigations to apprehend them.
The successful raid underscores Tripura Police’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
