Tripura Police Cracks Down After Right-Wing Activists Desecrate Bangladesh Flag

Agartala, India: A shocking incident unfolded on Monday as a group of right-wing activists breached security and desecrated the national flag of Bangladesh at the country’s Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura. The incident has led to widespread condemnation and swift action from the local authorities.

The protest, organized by the Hindu Sangharsh Samity, was initially a peaceful demonstration against alleged atrocities against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh and the detention of an ISKCON member. However, a section of the protesters turned violent, storming the diplomatic mission.

In response to the grave security lapse, the Tripura Police have taken immediate action. Three Sub-Inspectors have been suspended, and a Deputy Superintendent of Police has been transferred to Police Headquarters. Additionally, seven individuals involved in the desecration have been arrested.

“We have significantly bolstered security around the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission and initiated a suo motu case,” said West Tripura District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar. “The arrested individuals are currently under investigation, and we are committed to ensuring that such incidents do not recur.”

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha also expressed strong disapproval of the incident, emphasizing the importance of peaceful protest. “While we understand the concerns of the protesters, such acts of violence and disrespect are unacceptable,” he stated.

The incident has raised serious concerns about security protocols at diplomatic missions and has sparked widespread condemnation from various quarters.
