Tripura Police Destroys 40,000 Ganja Plants in Anti-Narcotics Operation
Agartala: In a significant move against drug cultivation and smuggling, the Jatrapur police in Tripura eradicated approximately 40,000 Ganja plants in the dense forested area of South Nidaya Manaititta.
The destruction operation, carried out by personnel from the Jatrapur police station in collaboration with the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), targeted multiple plots where the illegal cultivation was taking place.
The operation is part of Tripura’s intensified efforts to combat the narcotics trade. Chief Minister Manik Saha commended the police for their dedication to creating a drug-free Tripura, reiterating the state’s commitment to the “Nasha Mukht Tripura” initiative. “We are constantly taking significant steps toward eliminating drug abuse and smuggling. Together, let’s build a safer, healthier society,” he stated.
This operation follows a similar anti-narcotics drive by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Tripura police, during which around 5,000 matured Ganja plants were destroyed in the Khowai district’s forested Khengrabari area.
Both operations underscore Tripura’s steadfast resolve in dismantling the illegal drug network and ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
