Tripura Police Detain Two Rohingya Nationals and Three Indian Touts Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections

Northeast Desk, 9th April: In a recent development amidst the looming Lok Sabha elections, Tripura Police have apprehended two Rohingya nationals and three Indian touts from Uttam Bhakra Chowmuhani in Sepahijala District. Bishalgarh Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Rana Chatterjee, reported that the arrests were made following a tip-off, prompting authorities to set up a checkpoint to intercept them.

Chatterjee stated, “Today, at our inter-district checkpoint at Uttam Bhakta Naka point, we detained a vehicle based on a tip-off. Upon searching the vehicle, we found two Rohingya nationals and three Indian touts. Preliminary interrogation revealed that they came here for work purposes outside the state.”

The Rohingya nationals were identified as Harul and Md. Jahangir Alam, while the Indian touts were identified as Md. Faruk Mia, Abdul Kasesm, and Robel.
