Tripura Police Reinforces Public Coordination and Anti-Drug Mission, Says New DGP Anurag During Unakoti Visit
Agartala: In his first official visit to Unakoti district since assuming office, Tripura’s newly-appointed Director General of Police (DGP), Anurag, underscored the importance of community coordination in upholding law and order.
Addressing senior police officials during a review meeting on May 25, the DGP reiterated the force’s commitment to making the state drug-free while fostering a collaborative relationship with the public.
The high-level meeting, held in Unakoti, was attended by Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of various police stations, and officials from other security agencies. Also present were DIG (Northern Range) Rati Ranjan Debnath and Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, who supervises both North Tripura and Unakoti districts.
Reflecting on his previous engagements in the district as ADG (Law and Order) and DG (Intelligence), DGP Anurag commended local police for their commendable efforts in crime prevention. “This is my first visit as DGP, and I’m pleased to note that the overall crime rate has dropped by 24% this year,” he stated.
The meeting served as a platform to chart out a more robust action plan aimed at strengthening law enforcement mechanisms. “We had in-depth discussions today on our strategic goals. Our priority is to collaborate more closely with the community and intensify focus on areas that need stronger law enforcement,” the DGP said.
Anurag also highlighted the department’s alignment with the state government’s broader vision. “Public coordination is crucial. We’re working in tandem with citizens to ensure peace and safety. Equally, we remain firmly committed to Chief Minister Manik Saha’s mission of a drug-free Tripura. Our anti-drug operations have shown promising results, and we will continue to expand these efforts with improved public service delivery.”
The visit marked a reaffirmation of the Tripura Police’s evolving approach—one rooted in public partnership, data-driven crime reduction, and unwavering dedication to eliminating the drug menace from the state.
