Tripura Police Seize Arms and Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 35 Lakh in Joint Operation

Northeast desk, 23rd May: In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, Tripura Police, in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF), apprehended an individual and confiscated a substantial quantity of arms and Yaba tablets from his possession in Matinagar village, located in the West District.

Addressing the media, Dr. Kiran Kumar, Superintendent of Police for the West District, disclosed that the Amtali Police Station received intelligence from the BSF regarding a resident of Matinagar suspected of hoarding arms and drugs.

“Based on this tip-off, a joint operation was conducted late last night by the BSF and Tripura Police at the residence of Sundar Ali (36). During the search, we seized over 50,000 Yaba tablets, one semi-improvised 7.6 caliber pistol, seven live rounds, and Rs 23,000 in Bangladeshi currency,” Dr. Kiran Kumar stated.

The SP affirmed that Sundar Ali has been apprehended and will be presented before the court to seek police remand for further investigation.

“The market value of the seized items is estimated to be around Rs 35 lakh,” Dr. Kiran Kumar added.

This operation underscores the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat illegal activities such as drug trafficking and arms smuggling, ensuring the safety and security of the region’s residents.
