Tripura Positioned as Gateway to Southeast Asia via Chittagong Port

Northeast Desk, 26th February: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha outlined the northeastern state’s strategic role as a gateway not only to Southeast Asian nations but to numerous others through the utilization of Chittagong Port in Bangladesh. With Dhaka’s approval for India to access Chittagong Port via South Tripura’s Sabroom sub-division and the imminent inauguration of Maitri Setu facilitating cross-border movement, Saha emphasized the transformative impact on business and trade opportunities.

Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the redevelopment of Agartala railway station, Saha highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s virtual inauguration of various projects nationwide, including the redevelopment of 554 stations. He underscored Tripura’s access to Chittagong Port opening avenues beyond Southeast Asian nations, leveraging connectivity via the Bay of Bengal to benefit the entire northeastern region.
