Tripura Presents Rs 27,804.67 Crore Deficit Budget for FY 2024-25

Northeast Desk, 1st March: Tripura’s Finance Minister, Pranajit Singha Roy, presented a deficit budget of Rs 27,804.67 Crores for the financial year 2024-25 in the state’s Legislative Assembly on Friday.

Singha Roy highlighted that the total budget allocation for FY 2024-25 represents a 4.30 per cent increase over the Budget Estimate (BE) of 2023-24. He noted that the Capital Expenditure is projected at Rs. 6,633.80 Crore, reflecting a 23.80 per cent increase over the BE of 2023-24.

The Finance Minister emphasized that the budget is inclusive, futuristic, and growth-oriented, catering to every section of society, including women, students, youth, transgenders, Janajati, Scheduled Castes, OBCs, minorities, employees, pensioners, and the public as a whole.

Singha Roy highlighted the robust growth of the state’s economy, with the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growing at a rate surpassing the national level. For FY 2024-25, the projected GSDP growth is at 8.47 per cent, with State’s Own Tax Revenue estimated at Rs. 3,748 Crore, and state’s Own Non-Tax Revenue at Rs. 475 Crore.

He further detailed that the budget deficit stands at Rs. 410.69 Crore, underlining the government’s commitment to welfare measures and development initiatives. Singha Roy emphasized the allocation of funds for employment generation, infrastructure development, skill development, agriculture, education, health, and the specific development needs of indigenous communities, which constitute 39.93 per cent of the budget.
