Tripura Rolls Out Landmark School Assessment Framework for Quality Education
Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today unveiled the Tripura School Assessment and Accreditation Framework (TSAAF), a groundbreaking move poised to revolutionise education quality and infrastructure across the state. This transformative initiative, launched on Friday, is meticulously aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) and is set to meticulously evaluate institutional performance, pinpoint areas for improvement, and foster a culture of sustained growth within Tripura’s schools.
“I want each school in Tripura to become a centre of excellence to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” affirmed CM Saha, addressing a gathering at the launch event. He underscored the state government’s substantial investment in education infrastructure, highlighting the palpable improvement in Tripura’s overall learning environment in recent years. Dr. Saha proudly noted Tripura’s ascent to become the third fully literate state in India, following Mizoram and Goa, a testament to the state’s academic strides. He further elaborated on the commendable increase in pass percentages at both Class 10 and higher secondary levels this year. Notably, Vidjayajyoti schools, affiliated with CBSE, witnessed remarkable growth, with pass percentages surging by 26% and 21% respectively compared to 2024.
Addressing the persistent challenge of teacher shortages, Dr. Saha referenced the contentious termination of 10,323 teachers subsequent to a Supreme Court verdict. “Everyone knows a vacuum was created in the teaching workforce due to reasons known to all,” he stated, assuring that the government is proactively working to bridge this void. He confirmed that qualified teachers are being recruited through the Tripura Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRBT), with 226 graduate and undergraduate teachers recently appointed. The government, he reiterated, is resolute in its commitment to filling vacancies without compromising on quality. With the advent of TSAAF, Tripura is firmly on its path to institutionalising standards-based assessment across its educational landscape, thereby laying a robust foundation for an inclusive and future-ready education system.
