Tripura Royal Scion hints to opt out of contest

Guwahati: Tipra Motha chairman and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has made it known that he will not contest in the upcoming assembly election, which is scheduled to take place on February 16.

On his Facebook page, Pradyot criticised some local news outlet for publishing reported fake news using name of his elder sister Pragya Debbarma.

“Very sad to see Kok pin and some other channels flash my sisters name for Takarjala ! Unlike most political families no member from my family will be standing from Tipra Motha”, he said

Pradyot goes on to say that the party will offer seats to the local warriors rather than the palace fighters.

Tipra Motha issued the initial list of candidates on January 28. The party has candidates running for 20 seats, with one more seat still to be filled.
