Tripura: Security Forces Detain 15 Individuals, Including Children in Operations Along India-Bangladesh Border

Tripura— In a concerted effort to enhance border security, law enforcement officials detained 15 individuals, including children, during two distinct operations along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura, officials reported on Sunday.

The first operation unfolded at Agartala Railway Station, where Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, conducting a routine check, apprehended nine Bangladeshi nationals.

These individuals, who had recently been released on bail, confessed to their intentions of permanently relocating to Kolkata. Their detention highlights ongoing concerns regarding illegal immigration and the complexities of cross-border movement.

In a separate incident near the Muhuri River in the South Tripura District, BSF troops intercepted a group of six individuals attempting to traverse the unfenced riverine border. This group included two children and comprised three Bangladeshi nationals hailing from Chadpur district, alongside three Indian citizens from South Tripura.

The recent operations come amid an increase in cross-border activities, prompting the BSF to ramp up patrolling measures in both border and hinterland areas. The enhanced security protocols are part of a broader strategy aimed at curbing illegal immigration and addressing cross-border criminal activities, ensuring greater safety and security for the region.

Officials remain vigilant as they continue to monitor the situation along the porous border, balancing humanitarian concerns with the need for strict enforcement of immigration laws.
