Tripura Set for Major Tourism Overhaul with ₹115 Crore Investment

Agartala: In a significant stride towards bolstering its tourism landscape, Tripura is poised to witness the inauguration and foundation stone laying for multiple tourism projects valued at a substantial ₹115 crore. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is slated to spearhead these initiatives in the coming days, a development confirmed by Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday. The state government, through its Tourism Department, is actively working to elevate Tripura’s standing on both national and international tourism charts by focusing on the development of culturally and spiritually significant sites.

A cornerstone of these upcoming projects is the ambitious construction of an exact replica of the 51 Shakti Peethas. This monumental spiritual tourism venture, estimated at ₹97.70 crore, will be situated at Bandowar in Udaipur, Gomati district. Spearheaded by the Tourism Department, this mega project is anticipated to transform into a major pilgrimage hub for the entire region. “This initiative will add another feather to the state’s tourism map. The Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for this iconic project in the temple city of Udaipur on July 10,” stated Minister Chowdhury, following a site inspection with senior officials including the Gomati District Magistrate and the Director of the Tourism Department.

Beyond this landmark spiritual undertaking, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones for additional tourism infrastructure projects worth ₹18 crore. These initiatives are designed to enhance visitor facilities and overall tourist experiences across the state. Among these is the crucial renovation of the Kasba View Lodge, located within the historic Kasbeshwari Temple premises in Kamalasagar, Sepahijala district. This dilapidated lodge is currently undergoing redevelopment, with completion expected within the next few days. Tourism Minister Chowdhury, accompanied by the local MLA and senior officials, personally reviewed the progress at the site on Tuesday, issuing directives to ensure timely and quality-driven completion. “Our continuous efforts are directed toward enhancing infrastructure and ensuring tourist-friendly experiences,” he emphasised. With these comprehensive projects, the Tripura government envisions positioning the state as a prominent cultural and spiritual tourism destination in Northeast India.
