Tripura: Six Arrested in Agartala for Stealing Valuable Items from CBI Camp Office
Agartala: Tripura Police successfully apprehended six individuals involved in the theft of valuable items from the CBI camp office in Agartala. The loot, which included furniture, appliances, and other valuable items, was discovered following a complaint lodged by Inspector Anurag of the CBI Agartala unit.
According to New Capital Complex Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Subrata Barman, the NCC Police Station received the complaint on February 11, reporting the theft of steel almirahs, doors, windows, electrical appliances, chairs, and other belongings from the Shyamali Bazar camp office. The officials had last visited the camp in September 2024, and it was not until February 11 that the theft was noticed, with the five-month gap providing an opportunity for the thieves to act.
The investigation led to the arrest of two individuals initially, identified as Biplab Debbarma and Raju Bhowmik. During their interrogation, the police were able to recover several stolen items, including seven steel almirahs, seven doors, four windows, one geyser, and one chair. Based on the ongoing investigation, four more individuals were arrested, all of whom are residents of areas surrounding the CBI camp office.
The six arrested suspects are now set to be produced before the court, with the police seeking their remand for further questioning. The case underscores the effective work of Tripura Police in addressing crimes in the state, with further developments expected as the investigation continues.
