Tripura: Six Detained at Agartala Railway Station with Cannabis Worth Lakhs
Northeast Desk, 20th March: In a coordinated effort, the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Agartala Railway Station, aided by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), detained six individuals from Bihar found in possession of cannabis worth lakhs on Tuesday night.
Acting on a tip-off, the GRP and RPF conducted a search operation, leading to the apprehension of six suspects under suspicion. Upon thorough examination, authorities discovered 31 kgs of dry cannabis concealed in their shoulder bags.
The detained individuals, identified as Mati Lal Shaw (30), Nitish Kumar (21), Ajay Kumar Singh (36), Kiamu Md (27), Raushan Kumar (20), and Md. Mostak (20), were reportedly en route to Bihar when they were intercepted.
A GRP official confirmed that the accused would be presented before the court today to face charges related to the illegal possession and transportation of narcotics.
