Tripura: Three Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for 2019 Murder in Unakoti

Agartala: The Unakoti District Court has sentenced three individuals to life imprisonment for the 2019 murder of a man in Jubarajnagar, Tripura.

The accused—Jamir Ali (35), Sahin Ali (25), and Hossain Ali (26)—were convicted by the District and Sessions Judge, Kailasahar, on January 21, 2025.

Along with their sentences, the court imposed a fine of ₹10,000 each, with an additional three months of rigorous imprisonment in case of default.

According to a press release from the Tripura Police, the incident took place on April 28, 2019, when the three accused attacked Mohammed Ali, the brother of the complainant, at the Jubarajnagar Panchayat office complex in Unakoti District.

The attack, fueled by previous enmity, involved the use of a knife, causing grievous neck injuries that left the victim unconscious on the spot.

Despite efforts by the complainant and others to rush Ali to Bhagabannagar District Hospital in Kailashahar, he was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors.

The case was meticulously investigated by Inspector Chaitanya Reang of Irani Police Station, who submitted a thorough charge sheet that led to the conviction of the accused.

This verdict highlights the effectiveness of the investigative process and the judiciary’s commitment to delivering justice.

The sentencing serves as a reminder of the consequences of violent crimes and emphasizes the importance of law enforcement in ensuring justice for victims and their families.
