Tripura: Tipra Motha Founder Pradyot Kishore Demands Harsh Punishment for Culprits in Jiribam Killings
Tripura: Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the founder of Tipra Motha and the royal scion of Tripura, has strongly condemned the brutal killings of six individuals from Manipur’s Jiribam district, demanding that the Central government hang those responsible for the deaths.
The victims, including three women and three children, were abducted during a gunfight between security forces and Kuki-Zo militants on November 11.
The bodies of five of the six missing persons were recovered in a highly decomposed state from Jiri River in Jiribam and Barak River in Assam’s Cachar. These victims were among those who had disappeared following the clash, which had led to the deaths of 10 insurgents.
Reacting to the tragedy, Pradyot expressed his deep anguish, highlighting the brutal nature of the killings, which included a 60-year-old woman and a two-year-old child. “I hang my head in shame collectively as northeasterners and demand that these culprits be hanged for killing women and children to justify their cause. These people hide behind agendas while the helpless and the poor suffer,” he said.
Pradyot further questioned how such cruelty could ever be justified, stressing the importance of taking a strong stance. “The Government of India must do more. Northeast is a part of India, and when incidents like this happen, alienation begins,” he added.
He also extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, emphasizing the need for swift action and justice in such heinous acts.
