Tripura to Establish Cultural Hub with DoNER Ministry Support

Agartala: The Tripura government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha, has announced the establishment of a significant cultural hub in the state. This initiative will be realized through financial assistance provided by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).

Chief Minister Saha made this announcement during the inauguration of the state-level Buisu festival held at Bashi Chandra Para English Medium XII School in the Karbook area of Gomati district. According to a statement released by the Tripura Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), a substantial allocation of Rs 32.5 crore has been earmarked for this ambitious project.

Speaking at the Buisu festival on Saturday evening, Chief Minister Saha emphasized the state government’s ongoing commitment to improving the socio-economic conditions of the tribal communities in Tripura. He assured that the government would continue to undertake all necessary measures for the comprehensive development of the tribal population and is dedicated to preserving their unique customs, culture, and traditions.

During his address at the festival, organized by the Tripura Chubulai Buthu Samajik Sansthan, Chief Minister Saha expressed his happiness at attending the Buisu festival for the first time. He highlighted his efforts to participate in various tribal programs and reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, Sabka Vishwas,” stating that the state government is actively working in this direction.

At the event, Chief Minister Saha extended his greetings to the people of Tripura on the occasion of Buisu, Biju, and Subho Naba Barsha, acknowledging the diverse range of traditional festivals celebrated by the tribal communities, including Garia, Hajagiri, Wangala, and others. He also noted the budgetary provision for establishing a college in Karbook under Gomati District, which is expected to provide enhanced opportunities for higher education to the students in the region.

Chief Minister Saha contrasted the current development initiatives for tribal communities with the previous 35 years of state rule and the Congress regime, asserting that the progress of tribal communities has significantly accelerated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also proudly mentioned the unprecedented recognition of seven indigenous personalities from the state with the Padma Shri award during Prime Minister Modi’s tenure.

Reiterating the announcement of the cultural hub, Chief Minister Saha emphasized the benefits that institutions like the National School of Drama, Lalit Kala Academy, Sangeet Natak Academy, and Sahitya Akademi are providing to the children of the state, enabling them to build their future. He also highlighted the substantial financial resources allocated in the current budget for the development of the indigenous people of Tripura.

The inauguration event was graced by the presence of Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, Cooperative Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, former MP Rebati Tripura, MLA Sanjay Manik Tripura, ADC Executive Member Dolly Reang, ADC Member Kangjong Mag, District Magistrate of Gomati district Tarit Kanti Chakma, and several other distinguished guests.
