Tripura: Twipra Student’s Federation (TSF) Condemns Call to Revoke ST Status Based on Religious Conversion

Northeast Desk, 18th December: The Twipra Student’s Federation (TSF), a part of NESO, has strongly condemned recent demands by the Janajati Suraksha Manch to revoke Scheduled Tribe (ST) facilities for individuals adopting Christianity.

In a press statement, TSF’s President Samrat Debbarma and General Secretary Hamalu Jamatia expressed that such demands are discriminatory and violate constitutional rights and inclusivity.

They emphasized that the Indian Constitution upholds principles of equality and freedom of religion, stating that any attempt to penalize or discriminate based on religious beliefs contradicts the fundamental ethos of a democratic society.

The TSF remains committed to diversity, tolerance, and equality, calling for an environment where individuals can freely embrace their chosen faith without fear of retribution or loss of entitled rights.

They urge all stakeholders to uphold justice, equality, and secularism, working towards the empowerment and upliftment of tribal communities.
