Tripura: Wife Brutally Killed by Husband Suspecting Extramarital Affair in Udaipur

Northeast Desk, 13th May: In a harrowing incident that sent shockwaves through the community, a 37-year-old housewife was brutally murdered by her husband on Monday in Udaipur, Gomati District. The victim, Nimata Dey (37), was discovered lifeless in a pool of blood inside her residence, in what appears to be a tragic consequence of marital discord.

The perpetrator, identified as Asish Dey, who earns a living as a betel leaf seller, allegedly used a dao to fatally assault his wife. Swift action by Tripura Police, led by Gomati District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, resulted in the prompt arrest of the accused, who was apprehended at the scene of the crime. Authorities also recovered the weapon used in the heinous act.

Preliminary investigations indicate that long-standing suspicions harbored by Asish towards his wife, Nimata, regarding an extramarital relationship, may have ignited the fatal altercation. The tragedy unfolded during a heated argument between the couple late Sunday night, culminating in Nimata’s untimely demise.

The couple, married for 19 years, leaves behind a devastated family, including two sons and a daughter. The children, who were present in the household at the time of the incident, were asleep as the violence unfolded. Despite the gravity of his actions, Asish Dey made no attempt to flee the scene and was swiftly taken into custody by law enforcement authorities.

The heart-wrenching incident serves as a stark reminder of the grim consequences of domestic disputes and underscores the urgent need for community awareness and intervention to prevent such tragedies from recurring. As investigations continue, the community mourns the loss of Nimata Dey and extends heartfelt condolences to her grieving family.
