Tripura’s Biplab Goswami Honored by CM Manik Saha for IIFA 2025 Victory

Agartala: Chief Minister Manik Saha felicitated Biplab Goswami, a Tripura-based screenwriter, for his victory at the IIFA 2025 Awards. Goswami won the Best Original Story award for his work in the film ‘Laapataa Ladies’.

The event took place on March 14, where CM Saha acknowledged Goswami’s brilliant achievement. On X, CM Saha shared, “Today, felicitated Tripura’s esteemed screenwriter, Shri Biplab Goswami, celebrated for his remarkable work in Laapataa Ladies. His brilliance in storytelling continues to earn well-deserved recognition. His exceptional talent is a source of inspiration for budding writers across the state.”

Biplab Goswami, expressing his joy, said, “My journey started here in Tripura. I studied film and television at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in West Bengal before working in Mumbai. Being honored by the Government of Tripura today is a deeply emotional moment for me. This recognition is a dream come true.”

At the 25th edition of the IIFA Awards in Jaipur, ‘Laapataa Ladies’ led the list of winners. Directed by Kiran Rao, the film won Best Picture, while Nitanshi Goel earned Best Actress for her role as Phool Kumari. Ravi Kishan bagged Best Performance in a Supporting Role (Male) and Pratibha Ranta won Best Debut.

The recognition at IIFA marked a significant milestone for Goswami, reflecting his exceptional talent and contribution to Indian cinema.
