Tripura’s TLM Exhibition Sets New Record with 7,000 Teachers Showcasing Innovative Teaching Aids

Agartala: Tripura’s second annual Teaching Learning Material (TLM) exhibition saw an overwhelming participation of 7,000 teachers, setting a new record and more than doubling last year’s turnout of 3,000 educators. The event, held on February 6 at Rabindra Shatabarshi Bhawan, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Manik Saha, who commended the impressive displays of creativity and dedication shown by teachers across the state.

The exhibition featured 160 hand-crafted teaching aids from eight districts, each having advanced through block and district-level competitions before reaching the state finals. These innovative materials, designed to enhance classroom engagement, were the product of the teachers’ efforts to create low-cost, accessible tools that could make learning more interactive for students.

In recognition of their creativity and hard work, ten teachers received top honours, with the awards split equally between literacy and numeracy categories. This competition served as a platform for educators to share their ingenuity, focusing on methods to improve the educational experience across Tripura’s schools.

The event also highlighted several successful educational initiatives under the NIPUN Mission, which has seen over 10,000 primary teachers trained and specialised learning corners set up in classrooms across the state. One of the standout recognitions was given to the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya in Viveknagar for its comprehensive approach to foundational learning, marking a significant contribution to Tripura’s educational landscape.

Special Secretary of Education Raval Hamendra Kumar attended as the guest of honour, alongside SCERT Tripura Director L Darlong and School Education Director NC Sharma. Their presence underscored the importance of government support in fostering educational innovation.

Experts from NCERT praised Tripura’s educational programs, particularly the Vidya Setu initiative, which helps new students transition smoothly into the school system. Recent assessments of second-grade students have shown promising results, reflecting the success of these programs in tracking and improving literacy and numeracy levels across the state.

The exhibition stands as a testament to Tripura’s commitment to advancing education through creative solutions, offering a glimpse into the future of learning in the state.
