TU Researchers develop portable water based Oxygen Generator
Guwahati: Tezpur university researchers have created a low-cost, portable high-pressure oxygen generator composed of water.
Professor Partha Pratim Sahu and Jagat Das, a Research Scholar in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, have devised a pollution-free simulation system that creates high levels of oxygen from water to fulfill human needs. Additionally, it may help in the delivery of oxygen to those in need, notably during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Professor Sahu stated, “This initiative is part of ‘Make in India’ movement and we are happy to share that in addition to being low cost, it will provide oxygen without taking oxygen from air for different applications such as medical and industrial use to a good extent.” He also notified us of the work’s patent filing.
Sahu added, “We are awaiting clinical trials so that further improvement can be done to the system to support serious oxygen shortage in patients due to COVID.”
“The oxygen generation set up here is precisely developed to produce high purity oxygen very quickly with high pressure from water splitting using electrolysis to cater to the need without any interruption”, said Jagat Das, who designed the application under Professor Sahu’s supervision.
