Turtle Rescued & Cages Seized In Joint Ops In Guwahati’s Borjhar

Guwahati: A captive animal and several cages has been recovered in a joint operations conducted by Rangia police along with the crime investigation department (CID) of Assam Police from Borjhar area of Guwahati on Sunday.

This was in relation to the significant police operation in Rangia, Assam, on September 8 that resulted in the rescue of 41 rare wild creatures and the detention of two people.

The joint operation reportedly took place today after individuals who were detained in the case were questioned.

The two suspects referenced a rented home in Borjhara’s Kuworigaon during their interrogation, and police searched there and found multiple cages of various sizes and a captive turtle.

It should be noted that earlier on Thursday, Rangia police detained two suspects and seized two high-end vehicles being used to smuggle endangered wild animal species.

19 wild and two rare types of monkeys, 18 turtles, and two parrots were among the animals that were saved, according to sources. Two of the turtles, though, passed away shortly after being saved.

The two vehicles, a Toyota Innova and a Fortuner bearing registration numbers DL 10 CH 7924 and DL 8 CAQ 9876.

Two people called Karthik A and Raghu S had been detained by the police in connection with the significant bust. They allegedly admitted to the police that they had rented a home in Borjhar where the police carried out today’s raids when questioned by the authorities.
