Turtles Rare species recovered at Kamakhya Railway Station
Guwahati: A huge unclaimed consignment of 235 numbers of rare species of turtles have been recovered by RPF personnel at the Kamakhya Railway Station of Guwahati on Saturday.
According to the Forest and Wildlife officials, the turtles were found hidden inside 10 bags.
The officials informed that on arrival of a train from Indore, RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Bhanita Barman Talukdar along with Head Constable Narayan Das, found 10 bags in two coaches.
However, on being checked they found 235 rare species of turtles inside the bags.
The officials further informed that the turtles were handed over to Guwahati Forest Range under Kamrup East Division.
However, no arrest has been met yet into the matter .
Meanwhile, a case has been registered and all the 235 seized turtles have been taken to the Assam state zoo in Guwahati for treatment and rehabilitation.
