Two Arrested in Imphal as Security Forces Step Up Counter-Insurgency Operations

Imphal: Security forces arrested two individuals in separate operations across Imphal districts as part of intensified counter-insurgency drives.

In the first operation, an active cadre of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Taibanganba), identified as Kshetrimayum Bhogendro Singh alias Yaiphaba alias Prem (44), was apprehended from his residence at Khongman Zone-III under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East. Officials said Singh had been actively involved in extorting money from shopkeepers and residents across Imphal East and Imphal West to raise funds for the banned outfit. A mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were recovered from him.

In a separate incident the same day, security personnel arrested Pukhrambam Mani Singh (25) of Sagolmang Mamang Leikai, Imphal East, from New Keithelmanbi Bazar in Imphal West. A country-made pistol, a magazine, and a 9mm live round were seized from his possession.

Authorities confirmed that both men are being interrogated, with further investigations underway to trace their networks and involvement in unlawful activities.
