Two Arrested in Separate Manipur Police Operations

Imphal, May 3: The Manipur Police have apprehended two individuals in connection with separate criminal activities in operations conducted on Thursday, May 2nd.

In the first operation, Chongtham Ebungo Singh, a 20-year-old resident of Lamboikhongnangkhong, Imphal West, was arrested from the vicinity of Jama Masjid in Thoubal district. The arrest followed the recovery of a stolen Maruti Wagon R.

The vehicle, reported missing earlier on the same day from the Thangmeiband area of Imphal West, was positively identified, leading to Singh’s detention and the seizure of the car. Authorities confirmed that a formal complaint concerning the vehicle theft had already been filed at the Imphal Police Station.

In an unrelated incident, police officers successfully apprehended an alleged illegal arms dealer near the Bazar India Shopping Mall in Chingmeirong, which falls under the jurisdiction of Imphal Police Station. The arrested individual has been identified as Konsam Romeo Singh, 50 years old, hailing from Sawombung Maniyaiskul, Imphal East.

At the time of his arrest, Singh was found to be in possession of a 9 mm pistol along with a loaded magazine containing ten live rounds. Additionally, a mobile phone, an identification card, and Rs 330 in cash were recovered from his possession. He has been taken into police custody, and a thorough investigation into the matter is currently underway.
