Guwahati: Two persons were apprehended in possession of more than 8 gm of heroin in two different incidents in districts of West Garo Hills and East Khashi Hills in Meghalaya.
An anti-drug task group detained a suspect in Tura in the West Garo Hills district after acting on specific information, and heroin was taken from his possession.
Later, a raid was conducted at Laitkor Rangi in East Khasi Hills district based on the lead provided by the arrestee. Heroin weighing 4.4 grams was seized during the operation, police said.
A total of 8.1 grammes of heroin, 2 mobile phones, and Rs 14,230 in cash were seized in the two cases.
Meanwhile, cases were registered in both Tura and Shillong. They were both charged with violating the applicable NDPS Act sections.
