Guwahati: At least two people were arrested in East Khasi Hills district for possession of illicit drugs by the Meghalaya police.
According to reports, the duo were found to be in possession of heroin worth Rs 15 crore.
The heroin was found in a car that was found abandoned near Mawryngkneng, Meghalaya on the Guwahati-Silchar route.
The vehicle yielded a total of 150 soap containers containing 2.22 kg of “pinkish powder” packaged in polythene sachets.
The pinkish powder was identified as heroin after testing.
According to the police, the heroin was being shipped from Manipur to Shillong.
Meanwhile, a case under the NDPS Act was filed against the two arrested persons.
