Two arrested with 10 thousand pieces of Yaba tablets in Assam’s Karimganj

Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs in the state, Assam Police arrested two suspected drug peddlers from Karimganj district of Assam on Sunday night.

The two arrestees identified as Abdul Les and Abdul Khair.

Following a tip-off, the police officials launched a search operation against drugs at Patharkandi township of the district and intercepted a two-wheeler with registration number MZ 01 L 8062.

During the operation, the officials recovered 10000 of YABA tablets with a total of 1 kilogram from their possession.

Police officials informed that the market price of the recovered drugs is around Rs 30 lakhs.

Meanwhile, a legal proceeding has been initiated and further investigation is underway.

It may be mentioned that over the past few months several peddlers have been arrested but the police are unable to arrest the masterminds or primary suppliers of contrabands.
