Two Assam Engineers arrested in WB
Guwahati: Two accredited engineers of the Assam Panchayat and Rural Department were arrested from West Bengal on Friday by a team for allegedly siphoning off government funds.
According to reports, Dhubri Zilla Parishad had registered a case against two engineers and a contractor of Assam. Based on the complaint, a team of the Assam Police with the help of West Bengal Police arrested the enginers from a remote village in West Bengal.
The arrested engineers were identified as Saddam Hussain and Abdullah Al-Masud Mollah of Gauripur Development Block of Dhubri district. They were accused of allegedly siphoning off Rs 52.72 lakh by approving fake bills from a contractor identified as Jahidul Haque who allegedly had not done any sort of work related to the bills issued.
The third accused of the case, Jahidul Hoque is still on the run, and efforts to nab the said accused are still on.
