Two Assam Govt Employees Held in Separate Incidents on Bribery Charges
Guwahati: Two government employees have been arrested by the sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption in two separate incidents under the suspicion of accepting demanded money on Wednesday.
The vigilance squad initially caught Additional Patwari Utpal Kumar Nath, who worked for the Office of Settlement Officer in the Hailakandi and Cachar area, and had him arrested as he accepted the complainant’s demand for payment for work involving land certification.
Taking to Twitter, ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh wrote, “Sri Utpal Kumar Nath, Addl Patwari O/O Settlement Officer Hailakandi & Cachar district has been trapped and arrested red handed today by team of @DIR_VAC_ASSAM while accepting demanded money for land certification work of the complainant. @assampolice @CMOfficeAssam.”
In a different incident, the team detained NK (UB) Maichand Ali, who was working at the Assam Headquarters and taking the desired payment to hasten the processing and passing of the complainant’s pending bills in Guwahati.
Following the arrest GP Singh tweeted, “NK(UB) Miachand Ali of @assampolice Hq has been trapped and arrested red handed today by team of @DIR_VAC_ASSAM while accepting demanded money for expediting processing and passing of pending Bills of complainant. @CMOfficeAssam.”
