Two Assam Govt Officials Held On Bribery Charges in Goalpara

Guwahati: Two Assam government officials of the irrigation department has been arrested by sleuths of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption cell while allegedly accepting bribes in Goalpara district of Assam on Friday.

The accused officials identified as Akbar Ali and Jagadish Rabha.

According to reports, the duo was caught red-handed by the Vigilance team while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 for flood damage renovation works.

Reportedly, Akbar is an executive engineer (Irrigation) Dudhnoi East Division of Goalpara while Jagadish is the head assistant.

It may be mentioned that the bribe money was seized from both the accused and investigation into the case is underway.
