Two Bodies Recovered at Singhalila National Park Identified as Sikkim residents
Northeast Desk, 28th May: Two dead bodies recovered at Singhalila National Park near the Indo-Nepal border have been identified and are being brought to their respective native places.
One victim has been identified as a native of Yuksam, while the other, a female, hails from Geyzing. At the request of the victims’ families, their identities have not been disclosed.
The recovery mission is being carried out by police personnel from the Uttarey police outpost and some local residents from Uttarey. However, the operation is expected to take time due to the challenging terrain and unstable weather conditions in the Singhalila region.
While the cause of death has not been confirmed, it is suspected that the victims were struck by lightning, a common hazard in the area. The victims had reportedly gone trekking, leaving their vehicle at Uttarey, on May 19.
Further investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of their deaths.
