Two Earthquakes Strike Northeast India, No Reports of Damage
Northeast Desk, 4th October: Two minor earthquakes were recorded in parts of Northeast India on Friday morning, according to data from the National Centre of Seismology (NCS).
The first quake, measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale, struck Ukhrul district in Manipur at 7:02 am IST. The epicentre was located at latitude 25.04 N and longitude 94.20 E, with a depth of 30 kilometres.
Just minutes later, at 7:10 am IST, another earthquake hit Cooch Behar in West Bengal, registering a magnitude of 3.3. This tremor originated at latitude 26.28 N and longitude 89.13 E, from a depth of 5 kilometres.
No reports of damage or casualties have emerged from either location. Experts are continuing to monitor the area, which is part of a seismically active zone prone to such tremors. Local authorities remain on alert for any aftershocks.
