Guwahati: Four people were arrested and rescued two elephants by Assam Forest Department from Jalpaiguri on Monday.
According to reports, the two elephants-an adult female and a sub-adult female were taken to Gujarat from Arunachal Pradesh.
However, the arrested persons claimed that they have officials’ documents for the transportation of the elephants.
Meanwhile, the officials said that there were discrepancies in the documents.
It may be mentioned that the jumbos were later handed over to the Gorumara wildlife department.
