Two Jawans Arrested for Harassing School Girls on Train In Bihar
Guwahati: Two defence personnel were apprehended on Wednesday at the Chhapra station in Bihar for allegedly harassing female students travelling on the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (20505).
Both Mukesh Kumar, an ITBP official from Punjab and Amarjeet Singh, an Army officer from Jammu, were arrested. They were arrested for intoxication in accordance with numerous Railway Act provisions.
According to reportss, the incident occurred while the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express travelled along the Muzaffarpur-Hajipur line of the East Central Railway (ECR).
A group of female students from North Sikkim’s Navodaya Vidyalaya travelled to New Delhi on a field trip, according to Chhapra GRP SHP Rajesh Kumar. Binod Kumar, the school principal who accompanied them, was irritated by the two jawans’ inappropriate and lewd behaviour while under the influence of alcohol.
“Binod complained to the railway police, who flashed the message to other stations to take necessary action against the accused,” the SHO said.
As per reports, the school principal filed a complaint with the GRP after arriving in Chhapra.
Reportedly, the Muzaffarpur railway control room urged prompt action after knowing about the incident of the alleged behaviour of two jawans.
The two accused were presented in court and remanded in judicial custody, according to Rajesh Kumar, station house officer of the Chhapra government railway police (GRP).
A FIR was filed against the two employees under sections 37c of the Bihar Excise Act, 354a (assault against a lady with the intent to insult her modesty) and 34 IPC based on the RPF personnel’s statement.
