Two KCP Cadres Arrested in Manipur Amid Intensified Security Operations
Imphal: In a significant crackdown on insurgent activities, Manipur security personnel arrested two active cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) during separate operations on January 27.
The arrests, accompanied by the recovery of incriminating items, underscore the state’s ongoing efforts to ensure stability amidst its fragile security scenario.
The first operation took place in Waithou-Thiyam IVR under Lilong Police Station in Thoubal district, where 26-year-old Sapam Paikhomba Meitei, an active member of KCP (Taibangnganba), was apprehended.
Security forces recovered a TYT wireless handset and six live 9 mm rounds from his possession, pointing to his active involvement in unlawful activities.
In another operation, 32-year-old Samom Davidson Meitei, associated with KCP (MFL), was arrested near Thongju Pechulampak Pukhri under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district.
He was allegedly involved in extorting money from local businesses in the Singjamei and Thongju areas. From him, security personnel seized a mobile phone, a wallet containing ₹1,990, a driving license, and a two-wheeler.
These arrests come as security forces intensify search operations and area domination exercises across vulnerable regions in both hill and valley districts of Manipur.
The efforts aim to disrupt insurgent networks and restore law and order in the state, which continues to grapple with sporadic incidents of violence and extortion.
Authorities remain committed to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of residents through heightened vigilance and targeted operations.
