Guwahati: Two suspected robbers were killed in an encounter in the wee hours of Sunday while they tried to flee from police custody in Goalpara.
Speaking to My News NE, Superintendent of Police VV Rakesh Reddy P said that the persons killed in the encounter were identified as Refas Uddin and Basit Ali. Another in the encounter who was injured was identified as Rashidul Islam.
The SP further added that all of them were accused of “dacoity” and had two cases lodged against them in two police stations of the district.
Police officials also stated that following the encounter a pistol was also recovered as well which they had used to fire against the police personnel who had gone to arrest them. The police had to resort to control fire when the accused had fired on them as well.
