Two Masterminds Arrested in Murder Case of Retired Engineer in Guwahati
Guwahati, 6th March: In a significant breakthrough, Assam Police announced on March 5 the arrest of two masterminds behind the alleged murder of a retired engineer in Hatigaon, Guwahati. The apprehended individuals have been identified as Sahidul Islam, also known as Bulbul, and Sarifuddin Ahmed, also known as Bun. This development comes after a thorough investigation spanning seven months since the incident occurred, marking a successful resolution to the case.
The authorities had detained several individuals for questioning in connection with the case earlier. Guwahati Commissioner of Police Diganta Barah had disclosed in a press conference last year that four persons were held for questioning in relation to the incident. These individuals were identified as Darog Ali, Mahibul Islam, Nur Mohammad, also known as Hasu, and Abdul Sattar, all apprehended in the Baghbor area of Barpeta district.
The victim, Javed Ali Ahmed, a retired engineer, was tragically murdered while en route to the mosque in the early hours of July 27, 2023. The shocking attack unfolded a mere 100 meters away from the Hatigaon Police Station, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Sources indicate that Ahmed succumbed to injuries inflicted by an iron rod, which was discovered at the crime scene. The swift action by Assam Police culminating in the arrest of the alleged masterminds brings a sense of closure to the grieving community and underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to uphold justice.
