Two Myanmar Nationals Arrested in Mizoram for Attempted Smuggling of Foreign Currency
Aizawl: In a significant crackdown on cross-border smuggling, two Myanmar nationals were arrested in south Mizoram’s Siaha district for allegedly attempting to smuggle foreign currency worth approximately ₹1.48 crore.
The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Mizoram Police, apprehended the duo on Friday during a joint operation initiated after receiving intelligence inputs about smuggling activities in the region.
In addition to the foreign currency, authorities seized two mobile phones and a motorcycle from the suspects.
The arrests highlight the ongoing vigilance against illegal activities along the India-Myanmar border. An investigation into the case is currently underway to uncover further details regarding the smuggling network.
