Two Rhinos reached Gorakhpur Zoo from Assam
Guwahati: Shaheed Ashfaq Kullah Khan Zoolagical Park in Gorakhpur of Uttar Pradesh has received two rhinos from Assam. After travelling 1250 kilometres, the rhinos arrived at the park on March 17.
The Zoological Park and the Heritage Foundation greeted them warmly upon their arrival. Har and Gauri (one male and one female rhinos) have arrived to Gorakhpur Zoo from the Assam State Zoo and Botanical Garden in Guwahati.
Har and Gauri weigh roughly 1500 kg when they are between the ages of 4 and 5.
Dr. Yogesh Pratap Singh, a zoological park animal expert who was travelling with them by road, arrived at Gorakhpur Zoological Park on Wednesday.
Har and Gauri rode in different trucks. Two zookeepers from the Guwahati Zoo have accompanied Har and Gauri to Gorakhpur to watch after the rhinos throughout the voyage.
During the current season, Har and Gauri will receive approximately 140 kg of green feed and leaves every day. A 3 kg banana, as well as 12 to 15 kg of vegetables and fruits, will be distributed. Aside from it, 3 to 5 kilogrammes of gramme and bran will be distributed. Both Har and Gauri enjoy sugarcane and green corn, which will be offered to them.
Dr. H Raja Mohan, Director of the Zoological Park and PCCF Wildlife Assam, led by MK Yadav, met with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and thanked the UP government for the two rhinos.
A statue of Barasingha, Uttar Pradesh’s state wildlife, was presented to him as a keepsake along with a seven-member team from the Guwahati Zoological Park with both rhinos.
Dr. H Raja Mohan, director of the Zoological Park, adds that visitors to the zoo will only be able to see Har and Gauri after they have completed their quarantine period. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, will be present at the event.
